Cobb Sheriff's Deputy Caught Driving Drunk

The deputy allegedly hit a tractor trailer and then left the scene.

A Cobb County sheriff's deputy now has first-hand experience of being on the other side of the law after being arrested and charged with drunk driving.

According to WSB-TV, Austin Chadwick allegedly hit a tractor trailer on Canton Road while drunk and fled the area. Police say Chadwick left his wallet inside his abandoned vehicle.

Cobb County jail records indicate that Chadwick was arrested at his home on Rivercrest Drive in Woodstock on Saturday morning. It is not known how Chadwick was able to return home following the accident.

Chadwick now faces charges of driving under the influence, failure to maintain his lane, and failing to report an accident with injuries or damages.

Chadwick was released on a $1,600 bond on Saturday afternoon.
