Cops: Local Drug Dealer Attempts to Run Down Acworth Police Officer

The man is accused of attempting to run over the Acworth police officer by "almost striking him with his vehicle in an attempt to flee."

An accused drug dealers is in custody after allegedly trying to run down an Acworth police officer with his car, according to The Marietta Daily Journal.

Brian Anthony Smith, of Jasper, is accused of attempting to run over the Acworth police officer by “almost striking him with his vehicle in an attempt to flee” and ramming his 2013 Kia Optima LX into another officer’s cruiser while the officer was still inside the vehicle.

Smith was found with 19 Oxycodone pills, eight grams of marijuana, and one Acetaminophen/Hydrocodone pill, in addition to having $610 in cash on his person, according to police.

Police additionally found a black eyeglass case on the passenger side of the vehicle containing drug paraphernalia, syringes, spoons and multiple plastic bags.
