Donations Will Help Families in Kennesaw, Acworth

Last year, the Kennesaw Police Department assisted 86 families.

From the Kennesaw Police Department:

This is the 35th year for the City of Kennesaw Police Department to help less fortunate families in Kennesaw and Acworth. Last year, the Kennesaw Police Department was able to help 86 families, including 242 children.

Donations of money, food or new toys would be greatly appreciated. The dropoff location for toys and food is the Kennesaw City Jail. Monetary donations can be brought to the Kennesaw Police Department from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday.

They can also be mailed to the Kennesaw Police Department, Attn: Officer Scott Luther, 2539 J.O. Stephenson Ave., Kennesaw, Ga. 30144. Please make checks payable to the Jerry Worthan Memorial Christmas Fund. The deadline for donations will be Dec. 18.

This year, people can drive up and dropoff their donations on a couple of dates. When you make a donation, you can enter a drawing to win a $25 gift card to LongHorn Steakhouse.

  • Sat., Nov. 24: Adams Park, by the soccer field, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • Sat. Dec. 8: Adams Park, by the soccer field, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

This year, the food will be collected for the Shiloh United Methodist Church food pantry. They will be at the above dropoff location, both dates, to collect the items for the pantry.

Board members for this year are Chief Bill Westenberger, Deputy Chief Barbara Tolbert, Officer Scott Luther - C.O.P.S. Director/Treasurer, Bobbie Duke - 911 Director/Secretary, and honorary members Dianne Worthan (Jerry Worthan's widow) and Wendy Cunningham (Jerry Worthan's daughter).
