Driver Dies After Hitting Acworth Home

A 95-year-old woman died at Kennestone Hospital after hitting a home on Bells Ferry Road.

Cherokee officials say 95-year-old Mary Barron of Acworth died Tuesday at Kennestone Hospital after crashing into a vacant home in Acworth.

The single vehicle wreck occurred on Bells Ferry Road and Oak Leaf Court in Acworth at approximately 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, according to Cherokee County Sheriff's Office. Authorities say Barron drove her car off an embankment and hit the rear of a vacant home.

She was transported to Kennestone Hospital where she was later pronounced dead.

Authorities are currently investigating the case, and say that Barron might have had "some type of medical emergency" before the crash.
