Human Remains Found In Cobb County

Police do not suspect foul play after Cobb County resident finds skeletal remains in the woods.

A Cobb resident accidentally made a gruesome discovery when they were out in the woods searching for scrap metal.

Cobb County police they responded to a 911 call at approximately 9 p.m. Wednesday near Cranfill Road and Joyner Avenue when the caller reported finding a skeleton.

Mike Gerhard, operations manager at the Cobb Medical Examiner's office, said the person had been dead for quite a while as there were only skeleton remains.

Police and other investigators have not yet released details on the incident, and it is believed they will have preliminary information on the findings at the beginning of next week.

"When you're dealing with this kind of thing, it just takes a little bit of time to piece all of the information together and listen to what the bones are trying to tell you," Gerhard said.

Foul play is not suspected.
