I-75 Crash Kills Acworth Woman

She apparently lost control of her vehicle.

A 24-year-old Acworth woman is dead after she lost control of her vehicle on a wet Interstate 75.

Fatma E. Shalaby was driving southbound on I-75 at 1:49 p.m. today when she lost control of a white 2010 Nissan Sentra at the Terrell Mill Road overpass in Marietta, said Sgt. Dana Pierce, spokesman for the Cobb County Police Department.

"As the Nissan was spinning toward the inside shoulder of the roadway, it entered into the path of a white 2003 Dodge pickup truck that was pulling a double-axle trailer with steel on it," he said. "After striking the Sentra, the truck jackknifed and struck a guardrail just off the emergency shoulder. The Sentra came to an uncontrolled stop after striking the inner median wall."
