Allegedly Stolen Boat Found in Acworth Man's Yard

Timothy Dean McClure, 49, of Glade Road in Acworth, faces a felony theft charge and a firearms violation due to a prior felony conviction.

An Acworth man was arrested when a Bartow County sheriff's deputy on patrol spotted an allegedly stolen boat connected to a power source at his Glade Road home, Sheriff Clark Millsap said in a release from his Cartersville office.

The owner Jan. 9 reported the 26-foot SeaRay and a trailer stolen from a Staton Place yard. The next day, Jan. 10, a deputy on patrol reported seeing the boat at the home of Timothy Dean McClure, 49, of Glade Road in Acworth.

Bartow investigators seized the boat and arrested McClure, who said a man, within the past couple of weeks, had brought the boat to his home to be repaired.

But McClure gave police only the man's name, and no phone number or other information that could be used to contact the man when his boat was repaired. McClure said he never met the man who brought the boat.

Authorities say they found a firearm during a search of McClure’s home subsequent to his arrest. Due to his active probation status and a prior felony conviction, McClure is not allowed to have guns, according to the report.
