Pedestrian Hit, Seriously Injured on Cowan Road

Acworth police turned over the investigation to Cobb County police's Selective Traffic Enforcement Program.

A pedestrian was seriuosly injured in an Acworth crash late Monday, but authorities haven't yet release many of the details.

Acworth Police Department Capt. Mark Cheathem said the pedestrian was struck by a vehicle at 10:19 p.m. at 5035 Cowan Road, but due to the serious nature of the crash, the investigation was turned over to Cobb County police.

An Aworth Patch tipster said the incident happened in front of the Quality Inn.

Michael Bowman, Cobb police spokesman, said the department's Selective Traffic Enforcement unit is handling the investigation.

It's "responsible for investigating all fatal traffic crashes, enforcement of traffic laws in those areas which analysis indicates an elevated amount of crashes," among other duties, according to the website.
