Police Catch Suspect in Acworth Robberies

He may "have been involved in other elicit activity," said Capt. Mark Cheatham, the spokesman for the Acworth Police Department.

A 20-year-old Acworth man was arrested this week in connection with a string of burglaries at businesses near downtown Acworth.

In recent weeks, Douglas Maurice Evans allegedly broke into Citgo Gas at 4739 Main St.; Nibbles Restaurant at 4618 Main St.; Pizza and Wing Factory at 4628 Main St.; and Dollar Plus and Tobacco 4413 Main St., said Capt. Mark Cheatham, the spokesman for the Acworth Police Department.

A 3-week investigation led authorities to Evans, who is believed to "have been involved in other elicit activity," Cheatham said.
