Police ID Cyclist Killed on Bells Ferry

Although the accident is still under investigation, charges aren't expected to be filed.

The bicyclist who was struck and killed by a vehicle this afternoon along Bells Ferry Road has been identified as 42-year-old Timothy Austin of Woodstock.

Around 4 p.m. today, Austin was riding southbound on the sidewalk of Bells Ferry Road when, for unknown reasons, he lost control of the bicycle and entered oncoming traffic, said Officer Mike Bowman, the spokesman for the Cobb County Police Department.

A silver 2006 Nissan Xterra driven by Amanda Neill of Lilburn struck Austin, who died at the scene. Neill, 29, was not injured in the crash. Although the accident is still under investigation, she is not expected to be charged, Bowman said.
