Second Cobb Deputy Charged with Sexually Assaulting Inmate

An internal investigation initiated after the Jan. 18 arrest of Alvin Blake Sutherland uncovered more alleged misconduct involving another deputy.

A little more than two weeks after a Cobb County deputy was arrested in connection with the alleged sexual assault of a female inmate, a second deputy has been accused of the same thing.

An internal investigation initiated after the Jan. 18 arrest of Alvin Blake Sutherland uncovered more alleged misconduct involving another deputy, according to WSB-TV.

The investigation found that Sgt. Kristopher Travitz allegedly sexually assaulted a female inmate two years ago. He was recently arrested and booked in an area jail, where he remains without bond, according to WSB-TV.

Sutherland, 51, of Douglasville, is still in the Douglas County Jail without bond on charges of aggravated sodomy, aggravated sexual battery, sexual assault by a member of law enforcement, and violation of oath of public office.

Calls to Nancy Bodiford, the spokeswoman for the Cobb County Sheriff's Office, were not returned Monday.
