Around 3:30 a.m., a northbound CSX freight train crashed into a stuck trailer, which was being pulled by a heavy-duty pickup truck, at the School Street crossing near Main Street.

The trailer was filled with furniture and reportedly was dragged about a half-mile down the tracks with pieces of furniture being discarded from it.

According to Cheatham, there are signs advising drivers that trailers are prohibited.

During the morning hours, CSX workers and first responders continued to work clearing the damaged tracks. Traffic remains affected in the area with Lemon Street and School at Main closed.

This is a developing story and will be updated.
