Acworth City Council Recognizes Local Residents

Mayor Tommy Allegood read and presented a proclamation in recognition of United States Army Day to Acworth citizen and former Lt. Colonel Doug McKittrick, a 1995 retiree of the U.S. Army.

Mayor Tommy Allegood, along with Tourism Board members Abbie Parks and Melinda Howell, and Holly Bass from Cobb Travel of Tourism presented a plaque and gift to Phillip Robuck in recognition of his years of service to the Tourism Board, as well as 40 years of involvement with the Acworth community.

The Rotary Club of North Cobb presented a $1,000 check from proceeds from this year’s Smoke on the Lake BBQ Festival to the Horizon Field and the Acworth Police Department's Covering the Bases Event. The festival serves as the largest annual fundraiser that gives to local charities.

Mayor Tommy Allegood read and presented a proclamation in recognition of United States Army Day to Acworth citizen and former Lt. Colonel Doug McKittrick, a 1995 retiree of the U.S. Army. The proclamation will be presented annually as a tradition to commemorate June 14 as United States Army Day and to encourage citizens to learn the history of how the Army began, as well as to recognize the many veterans of the armed forces that serve our country in times past, present and future.
