Acworth To Get Bigger

Effective June 1, an unincorporated part of Cobb County will be annexed into the city limits.

Despite opposition from several county residents, Acworth Mayor Tommy Allegood and the Board of Alderman Thursday night approved a proposal to bring portions of unincorporated Cobb County into the city limits.

The annexation will take effect June 1, according to the Marietta Daily Journal.

Currently, the unincorporated pocket confuses emergency responders and road maintenance crews, city officials said. Annexation will help those emergency responders and road maintenance crews to better deliver services to the area, City Manager Brian Bulthuis told the MDJ.
