Parks Closed Due to High Lake Allatoona Levels

Dallas Landing Park and Proctor Landing Park will be closed until Saturday, May 18.

Two Acworth parks will be closed through Saturday due to recent heavy rainfall.

Dallas Landing Park and Proctor Landing Park will be closed until May 18 due to Lake Allatoona's high water levels, according to the city of Acworth's website, which adds, "We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and encourage you to visit Acworth Beach at Cauble Park instead!" 

The opening of the 2013 MasterCraft Pro Wakeboard Tour, set for Friday and Saturday, has been moved to Acworth Beach at Cauble Park, on private Lake Acworth, officials said in a press release.

Lake Allatoona last week rose at least 8 feet higher than its full summer pool, which is 840 feet, and could rise as much as 10 feet and remain 5 feet above full pool through Saturday, according to Lakes Online and a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers forecast, attached.

In the last two weeks, at least 5 inches of rain fell on Acworth, about 3 inches more than normal, according to the National Weather Service.

Allatoona on Saturday was nearly 7 feet above its full pool, according to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers' Mobile District's Allatoona Lake Facebook page, where lake goers can find updates on water elevation and closings.
