Qualifying Dates Set for Acworth Special Election

To be eligible to run for office, an individual must have been a resident of the City of Acworth since May 20, 2013, and must be a qualified municipal voter.

There will be a Special Election in Acworth on May 20, 2014 to fill the unexpired term for the Alderman Post 3 term that expires Dec. 31, 2015.

Last week, Acworth Alderman Bob Weatherford announced his intentions to run for the District 1 commission seat being vacated by retiring northwest Cobb Commissioner Helen Goreham.

Qualifying dates are set for March 10 and 11 (8 a.m. to 5 p.m.), and March 12 (8 a.m. to 12 p.m.).

To be eligible to run for office, an individual must have been a resident of the City of Acworth since May 20, 2013, and must be a qualified municipal voter.

To qualify an individual must complete the qualification paperwork, available in the City Clerk's Office, and pay the qualifying fee of $396.
