Qualifying for Mayor, Aldermen Posts Set

Qualifying for the city of Acworth's general election on Nov. 5 is set for Aug. 26, 27 and 28, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each day. 

Seats up for election are mayor and aldermen posts 4 and 5, according to the city's website. The qualifying fee for mayor is $612 and for the aldermen post.

Elected terms are four years, beginning Jan. 2, 2014, through Jan. 4, 2018.

Interested parties must satisfy the requirements for candidacy, which include, but are not limited to: being a qualified municipal voter, a resident of the city for one year immediately prior to the date of the election and shall continue to reside in the city during the period of service.

Qualifying packets will be available at the Office of the City Clerk located at City Hall, 4415 Senator Russell Avenue, Acworth, beginning Aug. 5 and must be submitted to the Office of the City Clerk anytime between 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Aug. 26, 27 and 28.
