Student Presents Painting to Acworth

She visited Mayor Tommy Allegood this week.

Rati Sarkar and her family visited Mayor Tommy Allegood at City Hall on April 15 to present him with a special painting of the city logo. Rati is an eighth grader from Barber Middle School who specializes in “graffiti art,” which definitely gives the Acworth logo a new look from her recent artwork.

“I made the decision to use bright colors, because through my eyes the city of Acworth is just really bright with action,” Rati said. “My drawing displays the city of Acworth. I chose to put Acworth's symbol in the middle and then write "City of Acworth" on the sides in bright neon colors.”

In addition to Rati's unique style of art, she is an exceptional student who is already looking forward to attending the magnet program at North Cobb High School this fall. Rati is fascinated with her studies, especially biology. Her goal is to become a biomedical engineer.

Rati participates in afterschool activities such as Indian classical dance, swimming, tutoring, and Destiny Daughters of Promise (DDP). DDP is a leadership program coordinated by Serena Martin that helps young students build their future goals, career pathways and more.

“It is helping me as I build my career and educational path,” Rati said.
