Chattahoochee Tech Hosts China Delegation

Approximately 17 administrators and educators from Hangzhou S&T Occupational Technical College and Zhejiang Radio and TV University visited the Chattahoochee Technical College (CTC) Mountain View campus Wednesday as part of a statewide tour of colleges and postsecondary institutions.

The group spent early Wednesday at the Marietta campus learning about the programs offered by Chattahoochee Technical College and the school's role in local and regional economic development.

After lunch, the group traveled to a second of CTC's eight campuses, the Mountain View campus, to tour the studio and control room facilities. Dr. Betty Ann Cook, Special Assistant to the President for International Affairs, who organized the delegaton's visit, was on-hand to speak with the educators. David Simmons, Vice President of Facilities, Wayne Bennett, Executive Director, and Rebecca Long, Public Relations, assisted with the tour.

Two Mountain View campus students from China, Xinyu Gu and Michael Zu, met the group and joined the tour.

Jenny Lindamood, Lab Assistant for Television Production and a student, gave the educators a tour of the studio, control room facilities, and the Introduction to Graphic for Broadcast lab where Chinese educators watched Lindamood's demonstration of Final Cut Pro and other video editing software.

"Our television production studio was a great chance for the delegation to see how we have integrated technology and created a program that is very hands-on for our students," said Dr. Sanford Chandler, president of CTC. "We are proud of all of our programs, but we knew the educators joining us from Zhejiang Radio and TV University would be particularly interested in this tour."

This delegation is the latest in a series of visits from international delegations, including Kenya, China and South Korea. CTC will again host a summer immersion and cultural exchange program for a group of high school students from South Korea later this summer.
