Harrison, Allatoona Notch Top 5 Directors Cup Finishes

Each year the Regions Bank Directors Cup is given to the top performing high school athletic department in each classification.

The Regions Bank Directors Cup is presented by the Georgia Athletic Directors Association to recognize the top athletic departments in the Georgia High School Association. Points are accumulated throughout each school year to determine the best programs in the state by classification, gender and region.

Points are tallied from each school’s top eight scoring sports among the 25 sanctioned GHSA sports in which each school participates. Each school that wins will receive a Regions Directors Cup trophy and wall banner.

The AAAAA top five is as follows:

  1. Brookwood – 1220.5
  2. Walton – 1058.5
  3. Mill Creek – 1039.0
  4. Harrison – 1010.5
  5. Lassiter – 996.5

boys’ teams finished 12th overall and accumulated 414.50 points in golf (85), tennis (70), cross country (54), soccer (53), track (49.50), lacrosse (45), swimming (33) and basketball (25).

The Lady Hoyas were the top-ranked girls program in the state this year, scoring 596 points. They took 100 points from their state championship win in soccer, 90 points from softball, 83 from volleyball, 80 from golf, 75 from cross country, 70 from tennis, 63 from swimming and 35 from lacrosse.

The AAA top five is as follows:

  1. St. Pius X – 1243.0
  2. Woodward Academy – 1185.0
  3. Columbus – 909.0
  4. Carrollton – 901.5
  5. Allatoona – 854.5

boys’ teams scored 374 points and finished in eighth place, accumulating points in baseball (70), cross country (66), wrestling (60), basketball (53), track (42), riflery (33), tennis (25) and football (25).

The Lady Buccaneers scored 480.5 points and finished in fourth place. They scored 90 points for their state runner up finish in softball, 83 from soccer, 72 from cross country, 70 from volleyball, 53 from tennis, 49.50 from track, 33 from cheerleading and 30 from swimming.

scored 285 points overall in the A classification and tallied points in basketball (70), cross country (45) and baseball (25) for the boys, and cross country (54), track (41), softball (25) and volleyball (25) on the girls side.
