North Cobb, Allatoona Students Attend Chattahoochee Senior Day

Local high school seniors spent the day as students of Georgia's largest technical college.

Students from and were among the 300 students who attended the Senior Day hosted by today at its North Metro Campus in Acworth. They got a chance to experience what it is like to be a student of Georgia's largest technical college.

An early morning information session was held to help the seniors become more familiar with Chattahoochee Tech, and the various entities within the school, such as admission, financial aid, athletics and different academic programs. After the introduction, students were given the opportunities to participate in 30-minute mock classes taught by Chattahoochee Tech faculty, where they got to ask questions and try their hands at some of the activities and assignments, said CTC Spokeswoman Rebecca Long.

“Students performed surgical techniques, played with water colors, tried on fire equipment and got their hands into the dirt and plants,” said CTC Director of Recruitment and Retention Erin Hamby. “We hope they have a better idea of what these programs are really like and what opportunities are out there for them.”

“Apply by July,” Hamby said. “We are reminding prospective students that all documents, including transcripts, test scores and applications must be in our hands by July 29. We don’t want anyone to miss out on working toward their goal of a college education because of missing a deadline.”

Long said the college will hold another event in April called Preview Day, where prospective students and their families will be able to learn more about the academic programs offered at Chattahoochee Tech. It is scheduled for 5-7 p.m. on April 14, and will be held at the North Metro Campus in Acworth. Faculty members and staff will be present to answer questions about specific programs as well as admissions and financial aid.
