Allatoona Buccaneers Take Down Cartersville with 10-0 Win

Defensive efforts by both teams were the order of the evening as the Allatoona Buccaneers maintain a perfect record in their new stadium.

The took advantage of an explosive 73-yard touchdown run on the first play from scrimmage and a strong defensive effort to maintain their perfect record for the season against the Cartersville Hurricanes with a 10-0 performance. The Bucs improve to 5-0 for the season, while the Hurricanes fall to 2-3.

On the very first play from scrimmage, Allatoona running back Miles Jones broke through the line and raced 73-yards for a touchdown. Almost immediately, the tone changed from offensive fireworks to a defensive battle that yielded only one field goal between both teams for the remainder of the game.

Both teams defense bent on just about every drive, but gave up very few big gains after the opening play and both defenses stepped up to stop their opponents when necessary.Β

Nowhere was that more apparent than at the 6:25 mark of the 4th quarter when Allatoona's steadfast running back Miles Jones was met by Cartersville defenders Taylor Bowen and Matthew Bryson and thrown for a loss on a 4th-and-inches play at the Cartersville six yard line.

Cartersville began to mount a solid drive (aided by a 15-yard unsportsmanlike penalty that moved the ball to midfield), but the drive stalled when a fourth down pass for a first down was called back on an illegal procedure penalty and Cartersville turned the ball over on down the very next play.
