Allatoona Clinches Home Playoff Game

North Cobb hangs on against Harrison to make the AAAAA football playoffs.

The football season goes on for both and .

Allatoona completed a perfect 10-0 regular season by beating Ridgeland, 28-7, for the Region 7-AAA championship Friday night.

Running back Miles Jones ran for 200 yards and two touchdowns on 27 carries for the Buccaneers, the Marietta Daily Journal reported.

It was Allatoona’s second 28-7 win of the season over Ridgeland.

The victory locked the Bucs into the top seed from the region and earned them a home game to start the Georgia High School Association AAA state playoffs next week.

Allatoona will play host to Franklin County (6-4), the fourth seed from Region 8-AAA. The Lions have won five consecutive games.

If the Bucs win, they’ll be at home again in the second round against the winner of Mary Persons at Americus-Sumter.

Meanwhile, North Cobb (5-5, 4-3 in Region 4-AAAAA) won its final two games of the season, 21-16 over and 21-17 over , to earn a spot in the GHSA’s AAAAA state playoffs.

The Warriors stopped the Hoyas on three fourth-quarter possessions to preserve Friday night’s win at Harrison after a 21-7 halftime lead was cut to 21-17, the MDJ reported.

North Cobb grabbed the fourth seed in Region 4-AAAAA and will open the playoffs at Region 3-AAAAA champion Camden County, which is 10-0 and ranked No. 1 in the state in the PrepCountry.com/GACA coaches poll.

If the Warriors can pull off the upset more than 300 miles from Acworth in Kingsland, they’ll be much closer to home in Round 2, playing at either or .
