Allatoona Travels to No. 2 Thomson

When the No. 2 team in the state plays the No. 4 team in the state, you expect that matchup in the semifinals. Today when travels to No. 2 Thomson the matchup happens one round early; in the quarterfinals.

Allatoona had to fight in each of its first two playoff rounds. In the first round, the Buccaneers dropped the first game against St. Pius X and had to fight back to win the next two.

In the second round, the Buccaneers split the first two games of their series and had to play extra innings to defeat White County. The road doesn’t get any easier for Allatoona when it travels to Thomson.

Spalding isn’t ranked No. 2 in the state for no reason. The Bulldogs have only lost twice all season and have won their last 20 games.

The quarterfinals are a best-of-three series. If the teams split games on Tuesday, a deciding Game 3 will be played Wednesday.
