Buccaneers Fall to Burke County
Allatoona lost its first game of the football season Friday and was bounced from the playoffs.
star running back, Miles Jones, suffered a concussion in the third quarter, according to the Marietta Daily Journal, and even though the Buccaneers fought hard to erase an early deficit, Burke County was too much for Allatoona who lost 32-28 in the third round of the GHSA 3A State Football Championships.
After Jones’ exit from the game, Allatoona fought back and took a three-point lead with just over seven minutes to play, but Burke County answered quickly, scoring the go-ahead touchdown with just under four minutes remaining in the game.
Allatoona had been playing with fire throughout the playoffs – falling behind in each of its three games. Playing from behind finally caught up with the Buccaneers who shut out three opponents in the regular season and only let three teams reach double digits in scoring.

The Buccaneers finished the season 12-1 and were ranked as high as fourth in the state this season.
