Each Monday we'll take a look at what happened on the gridiron over the weekend in Acworth Patch.

High school football is back and now every team in the area has at least one game under its belt. Here’s a brief look at the football action from the weekend in Acworth Patch

Allatoona 34, Kennesaw Mountain 0 – Miles Jones scored on a 61-yard touchdown run on the Buccaneers second play from scrimmage Friday and then tallied 216 yards on 18 carries to pace to a dominating win.

Alpharetta 29, North Cobb 26 – Quarterback Ty Griffin rushed for 120 yards before leaving Friday’s game because of an injury, but the still had hope until 13 seconds left in the game when Alpharetta connected on an 11-yard touchdown pass to take the lead and grab victory from the clutches of the Warriors.

West Forsyth 21, Harrison 13 – took an early 10-0 lead on West Forsyth before a 99-yard kickoff return let all the air out of Harrison’s sails. C.J. Posey scored on a 71-yard touchdown run and quarterback Clay Chastain threw for 139 yards. But it wasn’t enough to propel the Hoyas to victory.

North Cobb Christian 42, Mt. Zion 6 – Corey Harris did a little bit of everything Friday, rushing for 75 yards, tallying 98 yards receiving and scoring five touchdowns for as the Eagles cruised to victory.
