Look: Would You Jump from Lake Allatoona Bridge Like This?

Memorial Day celebrations started early Thursday as an Allatoona lake goer jumped from a Glade Road bridge, drawing the attention of a park ranger who promptly stopped the activity.

Memorial Day celebrations started early Thursday in Acworth as one Allatoona lake goer —and apparent thrillseeker—took a leap off a bridge into the cool water below.

The man, who didn't provide his name, said he jumped twice from the Glade Road bridge in Acworth before authorities arrived to promptly put a stop to any further such activity.

His third attempt to jump was thwarted by a park ranger, who sounded a short burst from his siren, pointing the man and his female companion, who said she was considering taking the leap, away from the bridge.

Officials are urging Memorial Day visitors to Lake Allatoona to wear life jackets and follow swimming and boating safety precautions, according to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

The couple contributed to Patch this video of the man's first jump. While we recommend lake goers avoid dangerous activities, we'd like to know what you think of leaping off a bridge such as this one into a lake such as Allatoona? Would you do it? Why or why not? Had an even more thrilling experience?
