Becca's Closet Moving to Acworth

The nonprofit organization is seeking your help to make the move from Kennesaw.

Becca's Closet Atlanta, a nonprofit organization helping girls in financial need find dresses for school events such as prom, has found a home in after for a few weeks.

The group stayed rent-free in a donated space on Kennesaw's historic Cherokee Street the past two years, but the location was leased recently. Acworth Patch posted seeking help from the public.

This week someone gave Becca’s Closet a house on 10 acres at 5830 Forest Dr. in the Cherokee part of Acworth. But the modular home needs serious repair.

"We are now in need of the community's help to repair the home before we can move the 3,000 dresses and racks that we currently have," said Renae Gunter, manager of Becca's Closet Atlanta. "We need a new roof, ceiling repair from water damage, mold removal and painting."

The organization is volunteer-based and operates almost entirely on donations. It is accepting donated materials and monetary gifts to help finish the repairs in time to catch most of the prom season.
