Community Recycling Event at North Cobb High When: Saturday, March 23, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Where: 3400 Old 41 Hwy NW, Kennesaw, GA What: North Cobb High School is hosting a community-wide electronics recycling day in the school parking lot at Blue Springs Road and Old Highway 41. Funds generated from the recycled items benefit the NCHS PTSA. Items accepted for recycling: Cellphones, desktops, laptops, servers, hard drives, keyboards, mice, cordless phones, routers, stereo equipment, PDAs, circuit boards, LCD monitors, other electronics and metals. This week's Cobb, Douglas and Paulding Weekend & Community Spotlight features a holiday themed event in the North Cobb area. The 4th Annual Acworth Turkey Chase 5K Fun Run and 2K Walk will be held this Saturday in Historic Downtown Acworth (5K Fun Run at 9 a.m., 2K Walk at 9:15 a.m., and Little Pilgrim Trot at 10 a.m.). Participants of all ages and abilities can walk, jog or run. Get a head start on that New Year's resolution to shed a few pounds. If you register on the day of the race, the cost is $30 for the timed run, $20 for the untimed fun run (ages 13 and up) and $10 for the untimed fun run (ages 6-12 years old). The Undy 5000 5K Run/Walk to fight colon cancer will return to metro Atlanta for the third consecutive year. Cobb County resident and colon cancer survivor Dawn Gagliardi is among the hundreds of participants who will be running in their underwear to help raise awareness for the disease this weekend in Marietta. In 2002, Gagliardi was constantly plagued with an upset stomach, discomfort, bloating and extreme pain. She was told that she had Bowel Syndrome (IBS). The IBS treatments, however, did not work for her even after countless visits to the doctor's office. After her visit to a gastroenterologist and receiving a colonoscopy, she was immediately diagnosed with stage II colon cancer at just 31 years old. Along her journey fighting the …
