A tractor-trailer crashed into a box truck, which crashed into a passenger car, said Officer David Baldwin, the spokesman for the Marietta Police Department.
All lanes of Interstate 75 South at Delk Road will be closed for the next two hours due to a vehicle accident, and the the Georgia State Patrol is advising afternoon and evening commuters to use alternate routes. Just after 3:30 p.m. today, a tractor-trailer crashed into a box truck, which crashed into a passenger car, said Officer David Baldwin, the spokesman for the Marietta Police Department. The tractor-trailer is on its side. "All of those cars, because of the size, are blocking the entire interstate," he said. "There's no serious injuries. Only minor injuries involved." A 71-year-old Acworth man who was injured in a Dec. 20 accident on Dallas Acworth Highway at Bridgemont Place has died. The Cobb County Police Department was notified Friday that Ronald L. Gibson passed away, Sgt. Dana Pierce, the spokesman for the agency, said in a statement this evening. According to investigators and witnesses, Gibson was driving east on Dallas Acworth Highway when his blue 2005 Honda Element crossed the double yellow line and struck a gray 2011 Chevrolet Silverado head-on, Pierce said. The driver of the Chevrolet, 39-year-old Michael Travelstead of Acworth, was transported to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital with non-life threatening injuries after the collision. Dalton Mason, 19, was arrested in Acworth this morning and is currently held at the Cherokee County Adult Detention Center.
The driver of the vehicle that struck a pedestrian Tuesday morning in Acworth has been arrested and charged. Dalton Mason, 19, was arrested at his home in Acworth this morning and charged with Serious Injury by Vehicle, Failure to Stop at a Stop Sign, and Failure to Yield to a Pedestrian, according to the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office. Mason is currently held at the Cherokee County Adult Detention Center. His bond is set at $920. The victim, 19-year-old Negin Efani of Acworth, remains in critical condition at Kennestone Hospital.
