Preview: The State of Acworth

Mayor Tommy Allegood is the featured speaker at today's Acworth Business Association luncheon.

Acworth Mayor Tommy Allegood will deliver the State of the City address at 11:30 a.m. today. Allegood is the featured speaker at the Acworth Business Association's February luncheon, which will be held at NorthStar Church. Among other things, Allegood is expected to tell area stakeholders that Cedarcrest Church will open in May; the new police headquarters is scheduled to be completed in August 2014; NCG Cinemas will soon open the first extreme screen in Georgia in Acworth; and five railroad crossings will become quiet zones. The 8th Annual Taste of Acworth will take place Saturday, Oct. 13 in downtown Acworth.

The 2012 Taste of Acworth, organized by the Acworth Business Association, will be held on Saturday, Oct. 13 on Main Street in Historic Downtown Acworth. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and will showcase the diversity of products and services the local business community has to offer. Last year’s event attracted about 20,000 attendees, and this year, organizers are gearing up for an even more spectacular event with several new restaurants. Participating restaurants will go head to head and battle it out in the five “Best of” competition categories. The judging will be intense with three celebrity judges deciding who leaves with bragging rights for the upcoming year. While satisfying your taste buds, you'll also get to see local dance…

Cobb Chamber to Hold Summer J.A.M.

Business owners from around the county are invited to meet, greet and network today at the Cobb Civic Center.

After its successful debut last year, the Cobb Chamber of Commerce and 12 business associations in the county will be holding the Summer J.A.M. today at the Cobb Civic Center.  The Acworth Business Association is once again participating in the Summer J.A.M., which is slated from 5 to 8 p.m. The cost for members of the ABA or other participating associations is $20 at the door. The general admission price is $30 at the door.  July's ABA monthly luncheon takes place from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., Thursday, July 26 at NorthStar Church. The guest speaker is Tricia Pridemore, Executive Director at the Governor's Office of Workforce Development. The cost is $15 for ABA members and $20 for guests and visitors.

July 4th Fireworks to Feed the Hungry

Enjoy one of the largest fireworks extravaganzas in metro Atlanta at Cauble Park, and help support a good cause.

The City of Acworth and the Acworth Business Association want to invite residents to one of the largest fireworks extravaganzas in metro Atlanta. On Wednesday, July 4, residents can enjoy live music and fireworks at Cauble Park. Live music will start at 4 p.m., leading up to headliners "FLASHBACK" at 6 p.m. Fireworks will begin at approximately 9:30 p.m. Admission to the concert is free, and tables are available for purchase at the cost of $50 each for City of Acworth residents and $70 for non-residents. With the table you get six chairs and one parking pass. This parking pass will allow you to park at Cauble Park as long as spots remain available. Parking at the park is by pass only on the evening of July 4, but you are not guaranteed a …

Are You Ready for the Summer JAM?

The Acworth Business Association will be represented at the county-wide networking event of the year.

The annual business event of year in Cobb County, the Summer Joint Association Meeting (JAM), returns July 18 after a successful first year. The Cobb Chamber of Commerce and the county's 12 business associations, including the Acworth Business Association, have united to sponsor the second annual Summer JAM. Touted as the networking event of the summer, the JAM drew nearly 800 people last year. The event will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on July 18 at the Cobb County Civic Center at 548 South Marietta Parkway in Marietta.
