Deputies Look for Man Who Allegedly Exposed Himself to Acworth Child

The alleged incident occurred in the Twin Pines subdivision off Kellogg Creek Road on Thursday afternoon.

The Cherokee Sheriff's Office is asking the public to help them locate a man they said allegedly exposed himself to a 10-year-old girl in an Acworth-area neighborhood. According to a press release, the girl told authorities she'd just gotten off her school bus around 4:15 p.m. Thursday in the Twin Pines subdivision off Kellogg Creek Road when a man allegedly exposed himself and made inappropriate comments to her. The girl said she screamed and ran home, the press release stated. Deputies combed the area looking for the suspect, who is described as a heavy set white male with salt-and-pepper hair and was driving an older model white foreign sedan. Sheriff's Office Seeks Suspect Who Fled Acworth Art & Tobacco

He allegedly crawled in the restroom drop ceiling, where he remained for nearly one hour.

The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office is trying to find the man who allegedly crawled in the restroom drop ceiling at Acworth Art & Tobacco Saturday night and tampered with an interior motion sensor. The agency needs your help locating him, which is why officials this afternoon released surveillance footage showing the man's face. Though no theft was detected, "we are asking if anyone in the community knows the individual in the photo," said Lt. Jamie Gianfala, a spokesman with the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office. "The owner of the store thinks his first name is Frank. The owner says he is a regular in the store and hangs out in the area." Acworth Man Arrested in Sweep

Of the 15 people arrested, four were sex offenders and 11 were arrested on outstanding warrants and other violations.

The bi-annual Cherokee Sheriff's Office sex offender verification late last week resulted in the arrest of 15 individuals. The operation, which took place last Thursday and Friday, is used to verify the home addresses of the 186 sex offenders living in Cherokee County. Of the 15 people arrested, four were sex offenders and 11 were arrested on outstanding warrants and other violations. James Warren, 25, of Acworth, isn't a sex offender. He was arrested on outstanding warrants in Hall County as well as a charge of giving a false name and birth date. He is being held at the Cherokee County Adult Detention Center in lieu of $1,000 bond. Cherokee Sheriff's Office Needs Help Locating Missing Man

James Michael Brown was last seen on Monday at an Acworth apartment complex.

The Cherokee Sheriff's Office needs the public to help the agency locate a missing man.  James Michael Brown was last seen Monday at the Gregory Lane Apartments in Acworth. The apartment complex is located off Bells Ferry Road just south of Highway 92 in the southwest sector of the county. Brown is described as a 32-year-old black male, 6'2 feet tall and weighs around 175 pounds. He has short curly black hair and is believed to have no facial hair.  He may be traveling in a red 2002 Toyota Solara with Georgia license plate that reads PCB-2204.  Anyone with information is asked to call the Cherokee Sheriff's Office at (770) 928-0239.

Foot Chase Leads to 2 Arrests

Both suspects are from Woodstock. One is 17 years old.

Two suspects wanted in connection with auto thefts in Acworth's Twin Pines subdivision were arrested Saturday morning after a foot chase with deputies. The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office received "numerous reports of theft from vehicles ... in the Twin Pines subdivision off Kellogg Creek Road in Acworth," said Lt. Jay Baker, the spokesman for the agency. The suspects, 17-year-old Andrew Birch and 21-year-old Dallas Walker, both of Woodstock, were each charged with burglary, nine counts of entering auto and possession of marijuana less than one ounce. Birch, who also was charged with obstruction, is in custody at the Cherokee County Detention Center on a $64,135 bond. Walker is in custody on a $63,455 bond. "Investigators have recovered a…

Missing Acworth Man Found Safe

John Carson Bryant told authorities that "after a family dispute on Thursday, he decided he was going to drive to the West Coast," the spokesman for the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office said.

John Carson Bryant, the Acworth man with Alzheimer's who had not been seen since Thursday, has been found safe, the spokesman for the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office said this afternoon. Bryant's son spotted his father’s truck parked at the Hardee's on Highway 92 and Interstate 75 in Acworth at about 1 p.m. today, Lt. Jay Baker said. Bryant, 76, of Acworth, was inside eating lunch. He told authorities that "after a family dispute on Thursday, he decided he was going to drive to the West Coast," Baker said. Bryant got as far as Louisiana, then decided to drive back home. "Prior to going to his house," Baker said, "he stopped at Hardee's for lunch." Bryant was transported to WellStar Kennestone Hospital in Marietta as a precaution.  Related…

He has a disease that is slowly shrinking his brain, taking away his ability to remember accurately, to have reason and logic and to function as he would like to function. Acworth Man, 76, Missing

John Carson Bryant was last seen withdrawing "a significant amount of cash" Thursday afternoon at the Acworth Regions Bank.

A 76-year-old Acworth man with Alzheimer's has not been seen since he withdrew "a significant amount of cash" Thursday afternoon at the Acworth Regions Bank, the spokesman for the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office said. And officials are requesting the public's help in locating the man, identified by Lt. Jay Baker as John Carson Bryant. Bryant is white, about 6-feet-tall and 215 pounds. He has gray hair and blue eyes. He was last seen at 4:30 p.m. Thursday wearing shorts and a T-shirt. Bryant was in his red 1994 Ford F-150 with Georgia tag DP1V11. Call 911 if you have information about Bryant's whereabouts.

Acworth Teen Survives Head-On Crash

But a 24-year-old man from Marietta died from the collision in Woodstock Wednesday afternoon.

Four Acworth residents are among seven people arrested in connection with a series of drug raids the Cherokee Multi-Agency Narcotics Squad carried out the past few days. CMANS seized meth and cocaine worth $266,500 in busting a drug ring based in Woodstock that reached into Cobb County, Phil Price, the commander of the drug task force, said in a news release this afternoon. “This is the fourth major drug trafficking organization we have dismantled in the last year,” Price said. “We will not allow Cherokee County to become a haven for drug traffickers.” The Acworth residents arrested are Shawna Rogers, 22, Victor Perez Valle, 28, Jose De Jesus Lopez-Benitez, 25, and Jonathan Scott, 30. Deputy Shoots Swordsman in Acworth

The GBI is investigating the Cherokee County shooting, which left the man in critical condition.

A Cherokee County sheriff’s deputy shot a man wielding a sword in the western part of the county Saturday night. A report of shots being fired on Christmas Eve drew deputies to the 2700 block of Old Mill Place in the Acworth area, Sheriff’s Office spokesman Lt. Jay Baker said. When the deputies arrived, they were confronted by the man with the sword. The result: A deputy shot the man, critically wounding him. Baker did not release details about the circumstances that led to the shooting. The wounded man was taken to WellStar Kennestone Hospital in Marietta. Baker did not name him.
