Georgia Home Wins Patch Contest

After thousands of votes from across the country, Joseph Felix's home was crowned the best decked house in the country and the winner of $100,000 for local schools.

In this year's Deck the House contest, the second time was the charm. Joseph Felix's Dallas home outshined the other 24 finalists to win the 2012 Deck the House contest and $100,000 for Paulding County Schools. After placing second in the nationwide voting in the 2011 contest, the Felix home received nearly 11,000 votes this year to finally win Deck the House. The home, with 100,000 computer animated holiday lights choreographed to Mariah Carey's "All I Want for Christmas is You," received about 300 more votes than a home in Coventry, R.I., which finished in second place.  Judging by the 80 comments on the Felixes' Deck the House submission, visiting the home has become a holiday tradition in Paulding County. Here are five things you need to know before starting your Wednesday.

Sunny skies return as temperatures reach 51 degrees with a northwest wind between 5 and 10 mph, according to the National Weather Service. Temperatures will drop below freezing tonight as skies will remain mostly clear, with a low around 30 degrees. Joe Heroux was named the Town Winner for Acworth in Patch’s national Deck the House contest Tuesday. He was one of 397 Town Winners across the nation, although those results are unofficial until today.
