Congratulations to Menchie's on winning this week's Acworth Patch Readers' Choice for having readers' favorite frozen yogurt in town. The Acworth Menchie's franchise owned by Randy Elias and Scott Paton was opened in February of 2011. The shop located on Cobb Parkway offers a rotating selection of frozen yogurt flavors, such as blueberry tart, chocolate, French vanilla, Irish mint, pistachio and pumpkin. Many of the flavors come in healthy formats such as gluten-free, low fat and non-sugar added. Patrons serve themselves frozen yogurt and add a selection of toppings. Prices are based upon weight. “We think the new concept and high quality of the product gives consumers a dessert option in the neighborhood,” said Paton at Menchie's grand …

Bring sunshine to your plate and palate with sweet mangoes.
There is something about mangoes. Despite the hustle and bustle of everyday life, eating a mango transports me to a tropical paradise, even if for just a moment. Mangoes, sweet fruits that emulate sunshine, have been tied to myths and legends that span thousands of years and throughout multiple religions and cultures. Their sustainability is a testament to their vitality. They range in color, texture and flavor, and varieties available throughout the states. Even so, mangoes are typically produced in tropical climates and exported from places such as India, the Caribbean, Haiti, and South America (This explains my dreamy, escape -from-reality daydreams). Whether eaten raw or cooked, as snack, an accompaniment with a protein or in a dessert…

Popular frozen yogurt chain is officially welcomed to the city by Mayor Allegood, city officials.
For Randy Elias and Scott Paton, franchising is as simple as going next door. The pair owns the Moe's Southwest Grill at 3348 Cobb Parkway and has recently opened the Menchie's Frozen Yogurt at the opposite end of the building. On Friday, Mayor Tommy Allegood performed a ribbon-cutting ceremony and officially welcomed Menchie's to the city. “Six years ago, Moe's was the biggest thing in Atlanta,” said Elias. “We were lucky to snap up a franchise in Acworth.” Ever since, Elias and Paton's commitment to the community has proven key in their business. With the downturn of the economy, this community-first approach has been vital in the continued growth of the partnership. An example of the pair's desire to improve Acworth will come on …
