Harrison Parents 'Left Holding the Bag'

Mike Sansone says that for the Hoyas, the need for a 9th grade center isn't a matter of feeling entitled.

The following letter to the editor was submitted by Mike Sansone of Kennesaw. To voice your opinions on the issues, e-mail our editor at acworth@patch.com, or become a blogger on Patch. Cobb County School Board member Alison Bartlett held a town hall at Harrison High School this past Saturday night. In an attempt to defend her opposition to the 9th Grade Center as well as voter approved SPLOST 3 projects, Mrs. Bartlett made herself available to the Harrison High School “Hoyas.” Principal Griggers moderated, and as usual for all Mrs. Bartlett Town Halls, questions were submitted on note cards, and verbal questions were not permitted. Principal Griggers received the questions, and asked them aloud for Mrs. Bartlett to answer. At the very …

The board always changes things - like the school calendar. The previous calendar was by far the best thing for the students and the teachers with all the mini breaks. Just remember all this come election time.   more ›

Letter to the Editor: "Cobb School Board Proved Me Wrong"

Tricia Knor: "I write this as a warning to others. Do not be as naive as I have been."

Dear Editor: Now in my fourth decade on the planet, I thought I possessed a modestly experienced view of the world. I hardly expected to be proved foolishly naive at this point. How wrong I was. I understood quite well that politicians were all influenced by special interests to some degree or another. Letters to the Editor: Telework Tips for the Stranded

With roads not cleared out completely and some of us being stuck working at home, the Clean Air Campaign offers useful tips.

Dear Editor, As temperatures remain freezing across the state, many Georgians are experiencing cabin-fever on their third day working from home. Since the roads may be icy through the end of the week, The Clean Air Campaign has some telework tips for the stranded: 1. Start with a plan: Make a list of things to do throughout the day and include a timeline to help you stay focused.  2. Stay organized: Keep your work space free of the clutter that tends to build up at home, like mail, games, magazines, homework, etc. 3. Stay connected: Make sure that you are easily accessible by phone, e-mail and/or instant messaging. Touch base with your teammates and supervisor to inform them of your progress. 4. Check your email: Even if you don't have …

A Letter from Don Ezell

Don Ezell, parent of an Allatoona High School basketball player, writes a letter to Patch.

Good morning Angela, I would like to congratulate you on the launching of the Acworth Patch.  I received a link from my daughter's Allatoona Basketball coach. She (Alexis) plays for the varsity girls team. I think this is awesome!  The paper has the true "Community"  feel to it that I think is sometime missed today in "Big time journalism".   I will continue to keep you in my prayers in regards to this endeavor. Blessings, Peace, and Much Love, Rev. Don Ezell Youth Pastor Turner Chapel AME Church Marietta, Ga
