Powerball Jackpot Tops $500 Million

The next drawing will be Wednesday.

With little more than 24 hours to go before the next drawing, sales for the Powerball Jackpot continue at a strong pace. Since the last drawing on Nov. 24, the Powerball jackpot has grown by over $100 million to a record $500 million. The estimated cash payout is $327 million. According to ABC News, the previous record jackpot was $365 million in 2008. Each Powerball ticket cost $2. Players choose five numbers plus a sixth Powerball number. Is Powerball's $250 Million Jackpot Enough?

How big a prize do you need before you decide to play the lottery?

The cash prize option is "only" $166.8 million. But with the odds of getting a ticket with the winning numbers worse than 1 in 175 million, will you play the game? It costs $2 per ticket.
