Acworth War Hero and Triple Amputee Breaks Ground on Home

Marine Cpl. Todd Love is an Acworth native who lost both legs and his left arm from an IED explosion in October 2010.

Marine Cpl. Todd Love climbed into a Bob Cat earth digger Thursday and broke ground on his future new home in Douglasville. It might not be such an extraordinary story except that the Acworth native lost both of his legs and left arm after he triggered an IED while on foot patrol in Afghanistan on the morning of Oct. 25, 2010. The Tunnel to Towers Foundation and the Gary Sinise Foundation have partnered through their “Building for America’s Bravest” program to build Love his new “Smart Home” in Douglasville. As a major sponsor, the Home Depot Foundation has committed $200,000 to assist in building Love’s House. Wounded American Hero Returns Home

Family, friends and community members are thrilled to have Marine Cpl. Todd Love back.

Marine Cpl. Todd Love knew there were people waiting for him at the McCollum Airport in Kennesaw and back home in Acworth, but he had no idea there were hundreds of them. A large crowd of people cheered and waved their flags as Marine Cpl. Todd Love’s plane landed at McCollum Airport in Kennesaw Saturday afternoon. Many burst into tears as they hugged their hero. Love is an Acworth native and a Recon Marine, who lost both legs and his left arm from an IED explosion in October 2010.  Family, friends, local law enforcement and military support groups escorted Love through the downtown areas of Kennesaw and Acworth to Dallas Landing Park, where the homecoming ceremony was held.
