Ex-Cobb Sheriff's Deputy Indicted on Rape, 20 Other Charges

He is accused of having sexual encounters with four female inmates at the Cobb County jail and other places for more than three years.

A Cobb County grand jury has indicted a former sheriff's deputy from Douglasville on charges of rape, sexual assault against persons in custody, violation of oath by public officer, and other charges. In a warrant, Cobb authorities alleged that 51-year-old Alvin Blake Sutherland made physical contact with an unamed female inmate at the Cobb jail on Jan. 11. He was fired from his job and arrested Jan. 18. Sheriff's Office Fires Deputy Charged with Sexually Assaulting Inmate

The second deputy accused of sexually assaulting a female inmate has been fired. Sgt. Kristopher Travitz's 14-year-old career with the Cobb County Sheriff's Office came to an end on Saturday, the same day that authorities arrested him on charges of violation of public oath, aggravated sexual battery, sexual assault by a law enforcement officer and false statements, Col. Cobb Sheriff's Deputy from Douglasville Charged with Sexual Assault

Cobb County Sheriff's Deputy Alvin Blake Sutherland, 51, of Douglasville, is charged with sexually assaulting a female inmate in his custody.

A Cobb County deputy from Douglasville has been accused of sexually assaulting a female inmate, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. A warrant alleges Deputy Alvin Blake Sutherland, 51, made physical contact with an unamed female inmate at the Cobb jail on Jan. 11. Sutherland is charged with aggravated sodomy, aggravated sexual battery, sexual assault by a member of law enforcement, and violation of oath of public office, according to the report. Arrest records indicate that Sutherland remains in the Douglas County jail. Bond is expected to be set at $100,000, according to the AJC.

I agree with you Pam, In this state there are a number of un-rachet related offenses that you you can get locked up for. The Cherokee County Sheriff's Office is asking for help in identifying this man from a composite rendering.

Cherokee County heriff's deputies are asking for information about a man who resembles this composite in connection with the sexual battery of an Acworth woman, said Lt. Jay Baker with the Sheriff's Office. According to the woman, a white man fitting this description and driving a white Ford Ranger approached her in the Shadowood Mobile Home Park. He asked her to clean his home for money, and she entered his vehicle.  She said he drove her to another subdivision, parked in a driveway and sexually assaulted her in his car before driving back to her neighborhood, Baker said.  The Sheriff's Office asks anyone who recognizes the man or has knowledge of a similar experience to contact investigators at 770-928-0239.
