Funeral Set for Man Killed In Acworth Bicycle Accident

Timothy Austin will be laid to rest on Saturday in Marietta.

Funeral services are set for the Woodstock man who was struck and killed on Wednesday after his bicycle entered the roadway in Acworth. The funeral for Timothy Austin, 42, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of the Mayes Ward-Dobbins Funeral Home in Marietta. Interment will follow at the Georgia Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.  Austin was cycling southbound on the sidewalk along Bells Ferry Road near the Cherokee-Cobb County border around 4 p.m. on Wednesday when, for unknown reasons, he lost control of the bicycle and entered oncoming traffic, said Cobb County Police Department Spokesman Mike Bowman.  A 2006 silver Nissan Xterra, driven by Lilburn resident…

Charges Not Expected in Fatal Acworth Accident

A bicyclist from Woodstock was struck and killed by a vehicle on Wednesday afternoon.

Police ID Cyclist Killed on Bells Ferry

Although the accident is still under investigation, charges aren't expected to be filed.

The bicyclist who was struck and killed by a vehicle this afternoon along Bells Ferry Road has been identified as 42-year-old Timothy Austin of Woodstock. Around 4 p.m. today, Austin was riding southbound on the sidewalk of Bells Ferry Road when, for unknown reasons, he lost control of the bicycle and entered oncoming traffic, said Officer Mike Bowman, the spokesman for the Cobb County Police Department. A silver 2006 Nissan Xterra driven by Amanda Neill of Lilburn struck Austin, who died at the scene. Neill, 29, was not injured in the crash. Although the accident is still under investigation, she is not expected to be charged, Bowman said.
