North Cobb Wins 1st Postseason Game Since '79

After Friday's 42-14 victory over Valdosta, North Cobb is moving to Round No. 2 of the state playoffs.

The last time North Cobb High won in the postseason, Jimmy Carter was president. Friday night, the Warriors did something about that. North Cobb (9-2) routed Valdosta High (7-4) 42-14 to advance to the second round of the Class AAAAAA state football playoffs. Next week, the Warriors will visit Fairburn's Langston Hughes High. Hughes defeated Rockdale County 37-3. Elsewhere in North Cobb, Allatoona bounced back from its Nov. 9 loss to East Paulding with Friday's 24-21 victory over Heritage. The Bucs will face M.L. King in the second round of the Class AAAAA state playoffs. Click here to view highlights from Friday's North Cobb-Valdosta game. And check Patch later today for a photo gallery and game recap from the Allatoona-Heritage contest.
