With a score of 59.21 out of a possible 100, Atlanta inched up on the list of the top 100 allegery metros, from the No. 73 spot in 2012. Rankings are based on factors such as prevalence, seasonal pollen scores, and allergy medicines used and board-certified allergists per patient. Atlanta's 2013 pollen score is better than average, while the number of medications used by Atlanta patients is on par with the average 1.04 used per estimated patient. A slow-moving weather system will move over Acworth and the metro Atlanta area.
A flood watch is in effect from Atlanta southward through Saturday afternoon due to the potential for flooding in creeks, streams and flood-prone areas. A slow-moving weather system will move over Atlanta through Saturday producing more than four inches of rain across central Georgia with up to an inch of rain possible in Atlanta. Showers moved in Thursday night and will continue today with a second round of scattered rain moving in Friday night through Saturday morning. Temperatures in Acworth are expected to reach the mid 40s Friday night. Most of Georgia, including Acworth, is in for a deluge as two rounds of heavy rain likely start Thursday and continue through Tuesday, so get your rain boots and umbrellas ready. Two to four inches have already fallen on north since the beginning of February, prompting concerns of flash flooding, extensive street flooding and isolated significant flooding, according to the National Weather Service's Hydrologic Outlook, which covers Acworth and a slew of other cities in north and central Georgia. A twister that spun from eastern Alabama through Polk, Haralson, Paulding, Cobb, Fulton and Gwinnett counties and kept moving east stayed south of Acworth, while another tornado petered out after staying north of the city.
