The Cobb Business-to-Business Expo, a free event that drew more than 1,600 people in 2012, is scheduled for 3 p.m. May 16 at the Cobb Galleria Centre. This year, the expo will feature former Atlanta Braves player Javy Lopez, who will sign autographs in the LOUD Security Systems booth. LOUD is just one of more than 150 local businesses that will showcase their products and services at the expo. Other exhibitors include Keep it in Cobb, which encourages residents to buy local. During the breakfast at Cobb Galleria Centre, the chamber will hand out the Cobb Executive Women Glass Ceiling Award.
U.S. Sen. Johnny Isakson (R-GA) will be the featured speaker at the Cobb Chamber of Commerce's First Monday Breakfast, which is scheduled for 7:30 a.m. May 6 at the Cobb Galleria Centre. During the breakfast, the chamber will celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Cumberland Community Improvement District and hand out the Cobb Executive Women Glass Ceiling Award. Admission is $40 for chamber members and $60 for non-members. Members get a $15 discount if they register online. Online registration will close at noon Wednesday, May 1. That's also the last day that people will be able to receive an online refund.

The information technology consulting firm already employs 350 people in the East Cobb area.
An Indian firm that specializes in information technology consulting is expanding its work force in Cobb County. At today's First Monday breakfast of the Cobb Chamber of Commerce, Infosys BPO Ltd. formally announced it would be adding 200 jobs to its current operations located in East Cobb. Infosys, based in Bangalore India, employs between 60-100 people at the Wildwood corporate complex. According to The Marietta Daily Journal, Infosys also employs 250 more people on Powers Ferry Road after purchasing McCamish Systems in 2009. The new jobs will "support the Infosys Business Process Outsourcing subsidiary" and will be added in the Cumberland Mall area, according to a report on GPB.com. The Cobb Chamber of Commerce is offering a free two-hour workshop Friday morning on the fundamentals of writing a business plan. The workshop takes place from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Cobb Chamber offices, located at 240 Interstate North Parkway. Cobb Commission Chairman Tim Lee will deliver the 2013 state of the county address before the Cobb Chamber of Commerce next week. The organization's First Monday breakfast starts Jan. 14 at 7:30 a.m. at the Cobb Galleria Centre, 2 Galleria Parkway. The online registration and refund deadline is this Wednesday, Jan. 9, at 12 p.m. Tickets are $25 a person for Cobb Chamber members online and $40 at the door; general admission tickets are $60 a person. An Acworth Chick-fil-A operator was among three Cobb County residents honored Wedneseday by the Cobb Chamber of Commerce Northwest Cobb Area Council as Citizens of the Year. In addition to giving back to his company, Acworth Mayor Tommy Allegood said Acworth Citizen of the Year Andy Duncan gives back to the community by being a Partner in Education, working with MUST Ministries, and being a member of the Acworth and Kennesaw Business Associations, among other things. The Cobb Chamber kicked off its 2012 Membership Campaign on March 5, with the goal of raising $700,000. The Chamber raised $843,950—exceeding its goal by a whopping 121 percent—and recruited 243 new members. “We are thrilled with the results of the Membership Campaign and look forward to helping our many new members achieve more for their business through the Cobb Chamber,” said Sharon Mason, vice president of Membership at the Cobb Chamber. After its successful debut last year, the Cobb Chamber of Commerce and 12 business associations in the county will be holding the Summer J.A.M. today at the Cobb Civic Center. The Acworth Business Association is once again participating in the Summer J.A.M., which is slated from 5 to 8 p.m. The cost for members of the ABA or other participating associations is $20 at the door. The general admission price is $30 at the door. July's ABA monthly luncheon takes place from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., Thursday, July 26 at NorthStar Church. The guest speaker is Tricia Pridemore, Executive Director at the Governor's Office of Workforce Development. The cost is $15 for ABA members and $20 for guests and visitors.
