Acworth Man Puts His Touch on Inaugural Bible

He restored Martin Luther King Jr.'s Bible for President Barack Obama's second inauguration.

When President Barack Obama takes the oath of office today, he will place his hand on a Bible that an Acworth man restored. Gordon Ponsford contracted with the Martin Luther King Jr. Center for Nonviolent Social Change to prepare King's "traveling" Bible for the president's swearing-in ceremony, which falls on the same day as the federal holiday that honors King, according to the Marietta Daily Journal. Ponsford fixed some of the leather on the Bible, which had gotten loose. King used the Bible as a young preacher, according to the Associated Press.
