Wounded FedEx Security Guard Recovering, Making Progress

Christopher Sparkman, 28, who was shot at close range at the Kennesaw FedEx package sorting facility on Tuesday, is an Acworth resident as was the deceased shooter.

On Wednesday, three of the six victims from Tuesday’s shooting at a Kennesaw FedEx package sorting facility remain at WellStar Kennestone Hospital.

A 52-year-old woman and 22-year-old man are in stable condition, and the 28-year-old security guard who was shot in the stomach at close range remains in critical condition.

Christopher Sparkman is in an induced coma after undergoing a pair of surgeries on Tuesday with a possibility of more surgeries to come.

His doctor, however, surgeon Barry Renz, told WSB TV on Wednesday that Sparkman was "making steady progress" and could make a full recovery.

Sparkman, like the shooter who took his own life, 19-year-old Geddy Kramer, both lived in Acworth. And both graduated from North Cobb High School, albeit 10 years apart.

Kramer reportedly left a note behind, but Cobb police have not released the note’s contents.

Sparkman is a newlywed and his Facebook page has several pictures of him with his wife, whom he married last May. Sparkman previously had served in the Army in Kuwait and is reportedly pursuing a career in air traffic control.
