Two Additional Suspects Nabbed in Copper Theft

The two suspects initially fled on foot from detectives, who were responding to the theft that was already in progress.

Two additional accomplices have been arrested in connection to last week's copper theft at a Cobb EMC power station in southwest Cherokee County.

Cherokee Sheriff's Office deputies have arrested Gainesville residents Erik Davies, 38, and Sean Demore, 20, according to a press release from the agency.

Investigators were able secure arrest warrants for both suspects, and both were apprehended Thursday night. Demore, the nephew of suspect of Daniel Demore, was arrested by officers with the Acworth Police Department and Davies was arrested by deputies with the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office.

"Cherokee Sheriff’s Office detectives have been working with detectives in Bartow County and believe the trio is possibly responsible for copper thefts in that jurisdiction also," Sheriff's Office Spokesman Lt. Jay Baker said in the news release. 

All three men have been charged with commercial burglary, criminal damage to property in the second degree and obstruction.

Daniel Demore was arrested Thursday morning after he was caught allegedly trying to take copper from the power station, which is located off Woodstock Road in an area of the county that has an Acworth mailing address. The other two suspects had fled on foot. 

They all remain in custody at the Cherokee County Adult Detention Center with a $33,400 bond.
