Cobb Board of Education To Announce Interim Superintendent
Announcement coming Thursday as Superintendent Dr. Michael Hinojosa prepares to step down at the end of May.
The Cobb County Board of Education announced Wednesday morning that it will name an interim superintendent for the Cobb County School District during a press conference on Thursday.
The Marietta Daily Journal reports that the board is expected to name high-ranking district leader Chris Ragsdale as interim superintendent.
In early February, Cobb Schools Superintendent Dr. Michael Hinojosa shocked the school board by announcing that he would be stepping down at the end of May.
Hinojosa, who was named superintendent of the state’s second largest school district in June 2011, said he intends to return to his home in Dallas, Texas where he could be with his family, which includes his wife and his 91-year-old mother.
Hinojosa arrived in Cobb at a fractious time, following the retirement of former Superintendent Fred Sanderson and with substantial turnover on the school board. But now the school board is searching for his permanent replacement.
