5 Things You Need to Know Today: Jan. 10

Here are the things you should know before heading out the door.

1. A winter storm alert issued by the National Weather Service is still in effect. The weather service reported that snow will continue into Monday morning, and an accumulation of 2 to 4 inches of snow is expected before the precipitation turns into sleet and freezing rain. 2. Registration is open for the 2011 Daddy Daughter Dance hosted by the . The event will be held Saturday, Jan. 29, from 7 to 9 p.m. at in Acworth. The theme is "Masquerade Ball." Fathers and daughters, dressed in their colorful ballroom attire, will be presented with masks on arrival, adding to the mystery and excitement of the evening. 4. Registration is now open online for the Preschool Sports Camp organized by the. It is a noncompetitive program aimed at helping 3- and 4-year-olds develop basic skills for sports programs in the future. Sessions are held on the Horizon Field at the Acworth Sports Complex every Thursday morning from 9 to 9:45, beginning April 14 and ending June 9. The fee is $50 for city residents and $65 for others.
