5 Things: Free Stuff for Teachers

Here are the things you need to know before starting the day on Aug. 3.

1. Weather. A high near 99 degrees is in for today, along with heat index values as high as 103, according to the National Weather Services. There is a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms tonight, with mostly clear skies and a low around 74.

2. In case you missed it. Cobb Animal Shelter Adopt-A-Thon: The Cobb County Animal Control kicks off its race to win the ASPCA $100k Challenge by presenting a Adopt-a-Thon on Saturday, Aug. 6, and you can help.

3. Happening. The next Cobb County Teachers' Supply Store will be held on Saturday, Aug. 20, 8 a.m.-10 a.m. at 440 Glover St, Marietta. Hours will be earlier than usual due to summer heat. Tickets will be distributed at the door on a first-come, first served basis. Teacher must present school ID or other official documentation to be admitted (e.g. letter from administrator on school letterhead, etc.).
