5 Things: Labor Day Weekend Parade

Here are the things you need to know before starting your day on July 20.

1. Weather. There is a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms this afternoon, otherwise, mostly sunny skies are in with a high near 94 and wind around 5 mph, according to the National Weather Service. 2. In case you missed it. : Beginning this week, Georgia residents have another chance to vote for a new license plate design. Last Thursday, the Georgia Department of Revenue revealed the three plate designs that received the most votes during an online contest. Noticeably absent from the top designs was the statement "In God We Trust" that was displayed across the bottom of all three finalist tags during the preliminary voting.

3. Happening. Love the Lake Festival Parade: The will be hosting the Love the Lake Festival Parade on Saturday, Sep. 3 at 10 a.m. on Main Street in downtown Acworth. This year’s theme is Grand Old Flag. Does your company, organization, school or civic group have a specialty vehicle, mascot, or want to get creative and design your own float to compete for prizes? Consider being a part of the parade.

The parade will kick off the annual Love the Lake Festival at which runs from Saturday, Sep. 3, 10 a.m.-6 p.m. through Sunday, Sep. 4, noon-6 p.m. Visit website to download a parade application or contact the office at 770-917–1234 for more information.
