5 Things: National Cyber Safety Awareness Day, Get Fit 5K

Here are the things you need to know before heading out the door on May 17.

1. Weather. Today is expected to be partly sunny, with a high temp near 66 degrees. Northwest wind is between 10 and 15 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph, according to the National Weather Service. Going into tonight, temperature will drop to a low around 44, with mostly cloudy skies. Northwest wind will be between 5 and 15 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.

2. In case you missed it. : Acworth residents came out for some toe-tapping music this past weekend. The first of several concerts for the Acworth Opry at Logan Farm Park brought out dozens of folks with lawn chairs, blankets and picnic baskets.

The concert series takes place the second Saturday of each month through October and begins at 5:30 p.m. The first act, Old Dixie Highway, took the stage, followed by the Luther's Mountain Band, which delighted the crowd with bluegrass tunes featuring a fiddle, banjo and guitar. Β Β

3. Happening now. News from the : The and the Pro Wakeboard Tour are inviting families to on May 21 for the first annual Acworth Get Fit 5K. The Saturday morning event will feature racing for children, families and serious runners at the park’s beach, where the MasterCraft Pro Wakeboard Tour will host its action-packed festivities for everyone to enjoy. Proceeds from the Acworth Get Fit 5K will benefit the Acworth Special Needs Group and Special Needs Baseball field. The race will kick off at 8 a.m. with a chip-timed 5K run through and around the park on a scenic, fast and well-shaded route. Runners with little ones can participate on the same course at 8:05 a.m. for the untimed 5K Stroller Roll. The final races of the day will be held at 9 a.m. for the Kids Fun Run.
